Who is Mrs. Gresham?

My name is Angela Gresham, and I will be your child's teacher this year. I have been teaching for 8 years, and I am certified in Elementary Education and Special Education. I am married and have 2 wonderful children - Hannah and Sam - along with a new Yellow Lab puppy named Buck! I am so excited to start another year in first grade! I am very eager to get to know your child, and I anticipate a productive, fun-filled year.

I am a firm believer that schools must help the parent raise the child. With this belief in mind, I hope to work very closely with you this year to see that your child gets the most out of our year together as he/she possibly can. I don't have to tell you that a challenging world awaits your child, and I feel that it is our responsibility to work as a team to prepare your child to succeed in this world.

I have high expectations for my students. The work we do will be challenging. However, I will structure our assignments so that if the students put forth the effort, they will be successful. It is important for the students to learn at a young age that effort leads to success.

First grade is full of learning experiences that will help to determine your child's success in future grades. I am committed to creating an upbeat, productive, "hands-on" classroom environment. The students will play an active role in their own learning.

I would like for us to remain in regular communication with each other throughout the year. I will be sending home newsletters periodically to alert you to major events, activities, and units that our class will be doing. If there is anything that you have a question about or would like to comment on, please feel free to call me here at school, email me, or send a note to school with your child. If I am not available when you call me at school, I will return your call within 48 hours.

In addition, I strongly encourage you to come into our classroom to volunteer. Any amount of time that you can give would be greatly appreciated. If you feel that you don't have specific skills or abilities to add to our classroom, let me assure you that is not the case. Your very presence in the classroom sends the message to the children that you care about the education of our community's young people.

Please be sure to let me know any information about your child that you feel will help me perform my duties as teacher more effectively. I look forward to an exciting year!
