Grades

I would like to make mention of the grades you will be seeing on your child's papers. There are 3 types of grades you will see:

1. check, check-plus, check-minus
I put these on papers just to let the children know I have taken a look!

2. numerical grade
This type of grade will allow me to measure progress, but will not be in the gradebook.

3. numerical grade with a circled "R" beside it
This type of grade is "R"ecorded in the gradebook.

Also, be aware that your child will receive a cumulative Language Arts grade on each report card. This grade consists of Reading (90%), Spelling (5%), and Grammar (5%). As you can see, Spelling tests are important, but they do not constitute the majority of your child's grade. Please be sure that they read each night!
