Literacy Centers

Centers are an important part of my classroom. Students visit the centers while I am teaching guided reading groups. The centers I have set up in first grade are slightly different than the ones you may recall your child participating in in kindergarten. These centers are set up to reinforce skills and concepts I have already taught in the classroom. Children are encouraged to be independent learners at centers. Some of our centers are: reading, math, art, computer, overhead projector, handwriting, listening, theme study, pocket chart, writing, spelling, and word building.
